Cass Community Health Foundation honors 5K top teams

BELTON, Mo., (June  27, 2017) – Cass Community Health Foundation (CCHF) recently celebrated Belton Regional Medical Center and Cass County Dental Clinic as the top fundraising teams for their 23rd Annual 5K Walk/Run for Health.

CCHF hosted the Walk/Run for Health Saturday, May 6. It was the first year for the annual event to include a timed race. Hundreds of Cass County community members helped raise a net income of nearly $58,000.

Members of both the Belton Regional Medical Center and the Cass County Dental Clinic teams collected pledges to benefit CCHF programs including the Cass County Dental Clinic in Belton and Harrisonville, Missouri.  The clinics are the only safety net dental clinics in Cass County serving low-income youth. Pledges also benefited scholarships for high school seniors pursuing careers in health care

Belton Regional Medical Center raised $2,771 and was given the top team fundraising award. Staff members of the Cass County Dental Clinic were given the award for the highest pledge average, raising an average of $461.67 per team member.

“The Cass County Dental Clinic and Belton Regional Medical Center teams are consistent supporters of our annual 5K event. A total of 43 teams participated, helping us to raise the most contributions in the history of the fundraiser,” Cynthia Randazzo, CCHF president, said.

The annual 5K begins and ends at Belton Regional Medical Center. The event is followed by Belton Regional Medical Center’s annual health fair and a celebration with food, provided by Cosentino’s Price Chopper, music and other activities. Next year’s 5K for Health is scheduled for Saturday, May 5, 2018.
