26th Annual 5K for Health rescheduled due to COVID-19

BELTON, Mo., (Mar . 30, 2020) – Cass Community Health Foundation (CCHF) has rescheduled its annual 5K event to Saturday, August 29. The event’s original date of Saturday, May 2 conflicts with the Centers for Disease and Prevention’s social distancing guidelines and surrounding communities’ stay-at-home orders in response to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

The 26th Annual 5K for Health will remain at Belton Regional Medical Center and take place in conjunction with the hospital’s community block party and health fair. Race registration, check-in and the health fair begin at 7:30 a.m. The 5K will start at 8 a.m. and be immediately followed by a celebration including food provided by Cosentino’s Price Chopper, music and prizes.

Rescheduling the 5K is important to maintaining the operation of CCHF’s safety net dental clinic. Cass County Dental Clinic. The 5K serves as the primary fundraiser for the clinic, which is the only safety net dental clinic in Cass County, Missouri. Children and teens ages 0-20 who are uninsured or insured by Missouri Medicaid are served at clinic locations in Belton and Harrisoville.

“We are pleased our presenting sponsors, Belton Regional Medical Center and Cosentino’s Price Chopper, are supportive of rescheduling this event to Saturday, August 29. They, along with many members of this community, understand the vital role this community-wide fundraiser plays in improving the oral health of underserved children ,” Cynthia Randazzo, CCHF president, said. “These are uncertain times, but CCHF is committed to continuing our work as stewards of improved health in Cass County and the surrounding area.
