BELTON, Mo., (Mar. 1, 2021) – Cass Community Health Foundation’s (CCHF) safety net dental clinic, Cass County Dental Clinic, has been treating patients for 10 years. Many young people in Cass County and the surrounding area have been visiting the clinic a majority of their childhood, including Ruffino Hernandez and Jade Sanders.
When asked how the clinic has impacted his oral health, Hernandez said, “I’m glad I’m not going to have a bunch of cavities after high school.”
Hernandez has been a patient at Cass County Dental Clinic since 2012. He was recently accepted into the Universal Technical Institute in Dallas where he plans on enrolling in both the automotive and diesel programs. Hernandez has aspirations of owning his own automotive shop in five years.
Sanders’s first appointment at the clinic was eight years ago. Today, she considers the clinic a place where she has grown up.
“My mom started taking me here when I was little. I love it here. You guys are amazing. You make me feel very welcome when I come in. The treatment I receive keeps my mouth comfortable.”
Sanders is now is taking the healthy habits she learned at Cass County Dental Clinic and embarking on adulthood. She has enlisted in the Army and is moving into her own apartment.
Cass County Dental Clinic is the first and only safety net dental clinic in Cass County, Missouri. The clinic opened July 5, 2011 in Belton, Missouri with a satellite location opening in Harrisonville, Missouri in 2015. Since its opening 10 years ago, Cass County Dental Clinic has watched many children grow up, taking healthy smiles with them into adulthood. Without support from the Cass County community, the clinic would not be able to treat the thousands of children that visit each year.
