25th Annual 5K for Health surpasses halfway point to fundraising goal

BELTON, Mo., (Mar. 27, 2019) – Cass County community members have helped Cass Community Healh Foundation (CCHF) raise more than $35,000 toward their $70,000 goal for the 25th Annual 5K for Health that will benefit Cass County Dental Clinic.

Cass County Dental Clinic is the first and only full-time safety net dental clinic in Cass County with locations in Belton and Harrisonville, Missouri. In 2018, the clinic treated more than 3,600 underserved youth in Cass County. The clinic serves low-income and uninsured children and adolescents from birth to age 20. Dental services include x-rays, exams, fillings, extractions, pulp therapy, crowns, cleanings, sealants and fluoride varnish.

“Thanks to supportive people in Cass County, this anniversary event is experiencing momentum,” Cynthia Randazzo, CCHF president, said. “Because this is the 25th year of our annual fundraiser, we are excited about the community’s interest in helping us create healthy smiles in Cass County. The number of patients we treat at Cass County Dental Clinic increases each year and the 5K for Health plays an important role in providing the dental care our children need.”

Community members have the option of walking or running in the 5K. All participants can create personal fundraising pages to help raise money for children and teens in Cass County. Registering as a walker is free, but everyone is asked to make a personal donation. Runners must pay an entry fee to cover the costs of t-shirts, time chips and bibs. All runners will receive a 5K t-shirt by paying the entry free. Walkers raising $100 or more will receive a 5K t-shirt. Additional prizes will be awarded to all participants raising $150 or more.

Following the 5K, all walkers and runners are invited to enjoy a post-event, morning celebration that includes food provided by Cosentino’s Price Chopper, music, prizes and a community health fair. The health fair, sponsored by Belton Regional Medical Center, will feature fun activities for the entire family.

The 5K will begin and end at Belton Regional Medical Center. Check-in begins at 7:30 a.m. and the 5K begins at 8 a.m.
