Cass Community Health Foundation to benefit area youth with annual walk

BELTON, Mo., (January 11, 2016) – Cass Community Health Foundation (CCHF) will host the 22nd Annual Walk for Health Saturday, May 7, 2016. Proceeds from the event will support the Cass County Dental Clinic (CCDC), the first and only full-time safety net dental clinic in Cass County with locations in Belton and Harrisonville, Missouri.

The Walk for Health, presented by Cosentino’s Price Chopper and Belton Regional Medical Center, is a four-mile annual walk with approximately 400 community participants.

“The Walk for Health is one of the most successful, longest running fundraisers in our community benefitting children’s health,” said Sara Jones, event chair. “In its 22nd year, this event will provide funding for comprehensive dental services to low-income, uninsured children and teens and those insured by Medicaid. There is a proven need for these clinics in Cass County and I invite everyone to join us on May 7 to help support this event.”

The Walk for Health will take place on the Belton Regional Medical Center campus and include a post-walk celebration with food courtesy of Cosentino’s Price Chopper, music, prizes and a community health fair sponsored by Belton Regional Medical Center.

“It will be a fun day. I’ve participated for many years with my family and it is fantastic to see the community rally around children’s health,” said Juan Rangel, event co-chair. “This is an opportunity for friends, neighbors and businesses to build camaraderie and support a local cause.”

In 2015, the CCDC treated 2,736 underserved youth in Cass County through 5,735 dental visits and opened a second satellite location in Harrisonville. CCDC serves low-income and uninsured children and adolescents from birth to age 20. Dental services include x-rays, exams, fillings, extractions, pulp therapy, crowns, cleanings, sealants and fluoride varnish.

Support for CCHF also funds scholarships for Cass County high school students pursuing a career in nursing or health care.
