Cass County citizens can help 5K for Health reach fundraising goal

BELTON, Mo., (Apr. 2, 2018 )– Cass Community Health Foundation  (CCHF) is nearing its fundraising goal for the 24th Annual 5K for Health. Cass County community members have raised more than $50,000 toward their $60,000 goal for the annual 5K that will benefit the Cass County Dental Clinic.

The Cass County Dental Clinic is the first and only full-time safety net dental clinic in Cass County with locations in Belton and Harrisonville, Missouri. In 2017, the clinic treated 3,516 underserved youth in Cass County. The clinic serves low-income and uninsured children and adolescents from birth to age 20. Dental services include x-rays, exams, fillings, extractions, pulp therapy, crowns, cleanings, sealants and fluoride varnish.

“The funds raised at the 5K for Health play an important role in operating Cass County Dental Clinic,” Cynthia Randazzo, CCHF president, said. “We encourage the community to register for the 5K and make a donation to help us reach our fundraising goal. All contributions support our mission of improving the oral health of youth in Cass County.”

The 5K for Health, presented by Belton Regional Medical Center and Cosentino’s Price Chopper, begins and ends at the Belton Regional Medical Center campus. The event provides a way for friends, family and co-workers to join together for a day of fun, health and wellness. The day includes a post-event celebration complete with food, music, prizes and a community health fair.

Last year’s event welcomed more than 300 community members. This year’s 5K for Health is Saturday, May 5.

Support for CCHF also funds scholarships for Cass County high school students pursuing a career in nursing or health care.
