5K for Health breaks another record, raises nearly $85,000

29th Annual 5K for Health

BELTON, Mo., (May, 8, 2023) – Cass Community Health Foundation’s 29th Annual 5K for Health raised nearly $85,000 for Cass County Dental Clinic. The 5K was on Saturday, May 6 at Southwick Stadium in Belton, Missouri. Cass Community Health Foundation’s safety net dental clinic, Cass County Dental Clinic, provides access to quality dental care for families who otherwise couldn’t afford it at its locations in Belton and Harrisonville, Missouri. In 2022, the clinic served nearly 4,000 children and teens.

Top fundraising teams included Community Bank Pacers with $2,599, Mill Creek Upper Elementary with $2,098.40 and LifeGoals Strategies Groups with $1,700. A total of $4,542.77 was raised from the Belton School District combined 9 teams. The top individual fundraiser was Amy Castle with $2,050 winning the Garmin 245 Forerunner compliments of Garmin. 

“We are very appreciative of the support Cass County and the surrounding community members have shown our safety net dental clinic,” Cynthia Randazzo, Cass Community Health Foundation president said. “Our sponsors, walkers, runners, vendors, and volunteers all made the 29th Annual 5K for Health our most successful event to date. The money raised for this event will make a direct impact in our community and create healthy smiles for many children.”

The Belton High School marching band provided entertainment before the 5K while the Grandview High School mascot and cheer team encouraged walkers and runners at the starting and finish lines. The Belton High School football team helped set up the event and served as course monitors. The 5K course began at Southwick Stadium and circled around both Belton High School and Cleveland Lake. Michaela Parisi was awarded first place, Marlie Surls was awarded second, and Kristie Spiers was awarded third in the women’s race. Justin Kohmetscher was awarded first place, Brayden Koenig was awarded second, and Jose Zamora was awarded third in the men’s race. Following the 5K, attendees were invited to enjoy the 5K for Health Block Party and Health Fair sponsored by Belton Regional Medical Center. The Block Party and Health Fair included music, raffle prizes, vendors with freebies, children’s activities, and all-you-can-eat Chris Cakes. Grandview private dentist, Dr. Rob Tait, chaired the 5K and Belton Regional Medical Center CEO, Todd Krass, co-chaired.

Cass Community Health Foundation’s 29th Annual 5K for Health was presented by Belton Regional Medical Center and Cosentino’s Price Chopper. Other major sponsors included Belton Regional Medical Center Medical Staff, Belton School District #124, Community Bank of Raymore, Lytle Construction Inc., Raymore Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Cass Regional Medical Center, Commerce Bank, Electrical Corporation of America, First Church of Peculiar, JE Dunn Construction Company, Polsinelli, Raymore-Peculiar School District, and Kenny and Suzette Southwick.
