Dogs welcome at 5K for Health

Dog and runner at Cleveland Lake

BELTON, Mo., (Feb. 12, 2024) – Cass Community Health Foundation is offering free dog registration at the 30th Annual 5K for Health. The 5K is on Saturday, May 4 at Southwick Stadium in Belton, Missouri and will raise money for the foundation’s safety net dental clinic, Cass County Dental Clinic.

Registration for the 5K is $40 per person. Community members can register their dogs for free with the option of purchasing a $10 dog bandana that says, “Fetching Smiles.” All dogs are encouraged to wear their bandanas at the event. Participants will be asked to line up for the race in the following order: runners without dogs, runners with dogs, first wave of walkers without dogs, second wave of walkers without dogs, and walkers with dogs. The 5K begins and ends at Southwick Stadium and circles Cleveland Lake. Day-of registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and the 5K begins at 8 a.m.

In addition to registering dogs, walkers and runners are encouraged to create teams with friends, family, coworkers, or neighbors. Every participant will receive the official 30th Annual 5K for Health t-shirt and a numbered bib. Additional prizes will be awarded to anyone raising $150 or more.

All registration fees and donations to the 5K will be used to support the children and teens served at Cass County Dental Clinic. The clinic operates at two locations in Belton and Harrisonville, Missouri. Children ages 0-20 who otherwise couldn’t afford quality dental care are treated at the clinic.

Following the 5K, all participants are invited to enjoy all-you-can-eat Chris Cakes, the 5K Health Fair sponsored by Belton Regional Medical Center, music, and raffle prizes. Registered dogs can enjoy treats at the finish line.

Todd Krass, Belton Regional Medical Center CEO, will chair the 5K and Sandy Kessinger of Country Club Bank in Belton will co-chair.
