Cass Community Health Foundation opened Cass County Dental Clinic in Belton, Missouri in 2011. The clinic filled a gap in the community, offering dental services to children who couldn’t otherwise find treatment. Since its opening, the clinic has opened its doors to thousands of children who deserve healthy smiles, including Cooper Cumpton.

Cheyenne Cumpton, Cooper’s mom, has been taking him to the clinic since 2018, when he was three years old. Now that he’s nine, he’s comfortable at the clinic and ready for a brand-new building that he can call his new dental home.

“He used to be scared of coming to the dentist,” Cheynne said.

Throughout the years, Cass County Dental Clinic has created a safe space for children to receive oral health care. Cooper is among many kids who have learned how to properly care for their teeth and feel comfortable while doing so.

“They have helped me point out the spots I miss and how to brush better,” Cooper said. “I had to have dental work done and the staff was very nice and kept me calm. They walked me through each step to help ease my anxiety.”

Cass County Dental Clinic staff have heard many stories like Cooper’s. The clinic's increased demand for services has surpassed capacity at the current Belton location. As a result, Cass Community Health Foundation has launched a capital campaign, A Lifetime of Smiles, and broke ground for the clinic’s future home at 1000 E. Markey Parkway in Belton, Missouri. This location will increase clinical space and access for quality, compassionate dental care for children and teens who are insured by Medicaid or who are low-income and uninsured, meaning more stories like Cooper’s can be told.

“Cooper is very excited about the new building.” Cheyenne said.

The new Cass County Dental Clinic is a $5 million project. Match Cooper’s excitement and help Cass Community Health Foundation raise the funds necessary to complete the project by donating to the campaign or making a pledge at casscommunityhealth.org/lifetimeofsmiles or call 816-276-4218.
