Tracey Leapai’s journey with Cass County Dental Clinic began when she was just a young girl. Originally from the beautiful village of Lauli'i in American Samoa, she moved to Belton, Missouri, where she first started visiting the clinic in 2015. Back then, she was a child learning the importance of dental care. Now, at 18, she’s an adult who takes responsibility for her own health, scheduling and attending appointments every year.
Like many kids, Tracey once had a major sweet tooth. At the time, she didn’t fully understand the importance of oral hygiene. “I used to eat a lot of candy, but now I know how to take care of my teeth,” she said. Through the care and guidance of the clinic team, she has developed healthy habits that will last a lifetime.
Her most recent visit was another reminder of why she has stayed with Cass County Dental Clinic for almost a decade. “The people who work there are always nice,” she said. She appreciates how smooth and professional the treatments are, with every staff member demonstrating kindness and expertise.
Now, Tracey is proud of the progress she’s made. The little girl who loved candy has grown into an independent young adult who prioritizes her health. Thanks to the support of Cass County Dental Clinic, she feels confident in her smile and her ability to care for it.
For Tracey, the Cass County Dental Clinic has been more than just a place for check-ups—it has been a place of learning, encouragement, and lasting support. And as she continues her journey into adulthood, she does so with a bright, healthy smile.
Cass Community Health Foundation opened Cass County Dental Clinic in Belton, Missouri in 2011 to provide comprehensive oral health services for children and teens who are insured by Medicaid or who are uninsured and from underserved backgrounds. The clinic's increased demand for services has surpassed capacity at the current Belton location. As a result, Cass Community Health Foundation has launched a capital campaign, A Lifetime of Smiles, and broke ground for the clinic’s future home at 1000 E. Markey Parkway in Belton, Missouri. This location will increase clinical space and access for quality, compassionate dental care.
The new Cass County Dental Clinic is a $5 million project. Help Cass Community Health Foundation raise the funds necessary to complete the project by donating to the campaign or making a pledge at casscommunityhealth.org/lifetimeofsmiles or call 816-276-4218.
